KLR Makeup Full Description
I am passionate about making brides feel their most beautiful on their wedding day. I trained as Makeup Artist over 12 years ago and have built up a range of experience and pride myself on my professionalism and expertise. I adore working with brides and getting to meet so many wonderful clients, I see this as a real privilege. I know that wedding planning can be stressful and there is a lot of pressure on brides to look their most beautiful and this is why I place real emphasis on building a rapport with my clients, making sure they feel totally at ease and actually enjoy being pampered on their wedding day. My part should be where you feel most relaxed. At a trial I will spend as long as it takes to get the look right, and really listen to my clients. When it comes to wedding makeup there is no 'one size fits all'! I use high end brands in my kit such as Nars, Chanel, Mac, Bobbi Brown and Estee Lauder, and I am constantly updating it as well as attending makeup courses to make sure I am always up to date with new techniques and trends. I am very passionate about makeup and enjoy how the wedding industry is constantly evolving and becoming more expressive. My promise to my clients is that I will not let them walk down the aisle unless they are 100% happy with their makeup and this is a promise I have never failed to keep.

I absolutely loved my look!

Karen! I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to send this message, but I just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU again for last Saturday. I absolutely loved my look and I was totally blown away by how well it lasted, I didn't touch anything up at all, all day! Amazing! Thank you so so much. I will send you some pro photos when I have them and please let me know what else I can do to help. I wish you all the best with setting up your new business, thanks so much again xx

I would 100% recommend Karen to brides!

Karen is an incredibly talented make-up artist who helped me to look and feel extra special on my big day (as well as the majority of my wedding party!) Her natural and fresh approach will ensure that you look like 'your best self', enhancing your natural beauty as opposed to painting over it. Her knowledge and expertise of products and techniques is second to none, and she is extremely collaborative - ensuring we worked together to create the look I wanted. And to top it off, her friendly and positive attitude were great in helping shake off pre-wedding nerves whilst getting ready! I would 100% recommend Karen to anyone looking for a make-up artist, and look forward to using her for future events!

I wish I had Karen for all occasions!

On my big day Karen was the makeup artist for myself, my bridesmaids and the mother of the bride. She was unflappable as you did everyone’s make up with ease and flair, so we had plenty of time to relax with bubbly and enjoy the very special ritual of getting ready. She made everyone feel happy and comfortable with their makeup look, bringing out the natural beauty of everyone. I felt especially looked after and like a goddess after she was finished. The end result was exactly what we had trailed and what I wanted- I couldn’t have been happier.

I felt my most beautiful

Karen really took on board what I wanted but also gave me some great ideas, which was great as I don't really wear much makeup usually. I was so happy with the end result which was natural but still glamorous and looked fantastic in photographs too. She was very relaxed and friendly which makes a huge difference in keeping calm on your wedding day! Thank you Karen.

Karen is an incredibly talented makeup artist.

She made me feel very special on the most important day of my life and more beautiful than I have ever felt! She was also fantastic with my bridesmaids, showing their individual style through their makeup. My mum has some serious skin allergies and I was really impressed with the way Karen knew what to use on her skin to be sure not to aggravate it. She worked flawlessly with my hairdresser and her timing and organisation were spot on! I cannot recommend her more!

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

It's impossible to pick one! I've been so lucky to do a real range of weddings and that's what I love about my job. No two are the same even if some weddings are similar in style it's the people that make it stand out for me and I love meeting so many different brides.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Diverse, high-end, vintage, creative, bespoke

What about your business are you most proud of?

Building up a small business from scratch is hard work and it takes buckets of determination and self-confidence. I am most proud of the lovely feedback I get from brides and the feeling I get seeing a happy bride feeling beautiful on such a significant day never gets old!

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Stay true to your vision as a couple and remember the reason for the wedding in the first place! It's easy to get weighed down by all the details but ultimately your wedding day is about celebrating your love with all your family and friends so just make sure to always keep that in the front of your mind!

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

One wedding I did had individual vintage books as wedding favours for each guest, so they had spent lots of time sourcing a book which would especially suit each different guest, I thought that was so lovely and thoughtful.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

When a bride contacts me the first thing I do is find out as much as possible about the wedding so I can build a picture of what they are looking for. If they then book a trial I will then spend time talking to them about what look they want for their wedding day, we will look at pictures, find out what kind of makeup they usually wear and then spend time trying different looks until they are happy. We might also talk about skincare and I advise them on what to do between the trial and the wedding. I then note down all the products used so I can recreate the look on their big day!

What do you love most about your job?

I love that no two days are the same! Each bride is completely different and as a very sociable person I enjoy meeting so many different people. However I think that the ultimate reason I do what I do is the sense of satisfaction I get from being part of such a special day. It's incredibly rewarding and a huge privilege to be part of something so special..

What is your No. 1 beauty tip for a bride?

Skincare, skincare, skincare! Look after yourself in the lead up! I don't recommend starting a completely new skincare regime a month before the wedding as this could cause your skin to react or break out. If you want to start using new products make sure to start plenty time in advance, 6 months if possible! But the main thing is to make sure you cleanse thoroughly and moisturise twice a day and of course, drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun.

How do you keep the bride feeling calm on her wedding day?

I have a very relaxed and friendly persona which definitely helps. I worked in Events Management for several years too which has ensured I am unflappable under pressure! I think people feed off your energy so if your Makeup Artist stays calm and relaxed this helps the whole bridal party too. I also make sure I've built a good rapport beforehand either at the trial or through communications leading up to the wedding day, and this helps my clients feel at ease.

What advice would you give to brides to stay looking great throughout their wedding day?

The key is to make sure the skin is well prepped before makeup is applied, which I always make sure is the case with my clients. Other than that I think a bride's job on the day is to just relax and enjoy it! I always give my brides a little pot of the lipstick I've used so they can reapply but my job is to make sure it's as long lasting as possible so that the bride doesn't have to worry about it, she should be having too much fun anyway!
