The Hard work, Long Hours and Passion my team apply to their work. Always trying to improve and do their very best for each bride.
In regards to Hair & Makeup always check the photos being used to promote their service is their own work and they are not just trend inspiration photos from off line. Look for a good selection of their work on their social media pages and website of past brides and of course check their reviews.
A good Hair & Makeup artist need to know when to step in and sit back. They spend the run up to the wedding with brides, obviously there will be a little nerves and sometimes anxiety. We always try to keep the wedding party calm, have a few giggles and keep the mood light. But we re on hand for help too, such has help lacing a bride into a gown and at one wedding fixing a sandal shoe with clear elastic bands. But also knowing when to step back give privacy for those special moments in the family.
Once the email enquiry comes through and we have the date and information I provide a quote with travel included and a link to see the actual Stylists/MUAs work on our facebook page. In there are reviews from other brides and a good selection of their past brides to see. This gives them a full picture of a fixed cost and the quality of the stylist.
There is a small deposit to pay on booking. This is receipted and information about what to collect and how to prepare for the trial is sent.
The stylist/MUA organises the trial direct with the bride. This is approx 2-3 months before the wedding. Close enough you have a clear picture in your mind of how you want to look on the day and accessories bought.
Advice can be given on skin care regime, and colours and designs to try. Taking the brides initial ideas into account and suggesting little details to add and try.
Once the bride is happy with the look decided on photos are taken and banked for the day alongside notes on pallets used etc.
Also a timetable will be provided per person in the booking so the bride can arrange this with them and we always aim to have the last person finished at least one hour before leaving for the wedding.
This gives plenty of time for changing then final top ups on lips and hair checks so everyone is picture perfect as they leave.
I feel honoured to be part of a brides morning. Its a little like being a forever bridesmaid. I have all the fun with them and the pleasure of making them look stunning and seeing how amazing they look in their gown all finished and just wave them off to have the perfect day. Who wouldn't love this job!
