Unburdened by the restraints of hotel catering and décor, celebrations at Trudder Lodge are utterly bespoke so that your wedding weekend can be exactly what you want it to be. You can choose a caterer from a panel, enlist your talented Aunt to gild the courtyard marquee, drape ribbons from the marquee ceiling and serve pink champagne to all assembled. Trudder Lodge has seen extravagant white weddings, celebrations in riotous colour, suave garden parties and festivals that span a spectrum of cultures and traditions.
Your creativity is not curtailed to just the reception. At Trudder Lodge you can choose to have your wedding celebration anywhere on the grounds, be that on the rolling lawn, in the walled garden or under your favourite tree. The Garden room provides an alternative indoor space set within the garden. Hidden from view behind pink rhododendrons and old granite walls this special space can seat your guests while you say your vows under twinkling lights or candles’ glow. Narrow pathways around the gardens circle back to the House and on to the festivities.
While smaller banquets up to 30 people can be held in the formal dining room, larger parties of up to 130 are accommodated in the courtyard marquee. As is the case with everything in Trudder Lodge, this is not a typical marquee but is instead housed within the stone walls of the outbuildings, laundry and stables of the original Georgian courtyard. The coach house doors have been swung back to provide a cosy seating area beside the fire and the dance-floor is within the former tool sheds. Above, the marquee roof rises from these old stone structures towards two antique chandeliers. The outdoor area through the heavy yard door is strewn with lights and heated by fire-pits to encourage lingering conversation.
