We are a private historical venue that offers a range of luxurious exclusive experiences. We host both intimate and large bespoke weddings, private parties and gatherings, luxury corporate and wellness retreats, hen parties, family reunions, afternoon tea and group accommodation bookings. Destination weddings, private dinners, photoshoots and film location are also very welcome.
THE ESTATE
Built in 1766, The Millhouse and The Old Mill Slane, the weir and the millrace were once considered the largest and finest complex of its kind in Ireland. Originally a corn mill powered by two large water wheels, the harvest was hoisted into the upper floor granaries before being dried, sifted and ground.
Over time, the Old Mill became a specialised manufacturer of textiles turning raw cotton into luxury bed linen. Times have changed but this past remains part of our history, acknowledged and conserved.
In 2006, The Millhouse was creatively rejuvenated, transformed into a hotel and wedding venue of unique character - a nod to the early 1900's when it briefly served as a hotel-stop for passengers on pleasure steamer boats.
THE COACH HOUSE
Enjoy our beautiful, private dressing and makeup room overlooking the river. This suite is the perfect space for you and your wedding party to enjoy all aspects of getting ready & will act as a haven to calm those pre--wedding nerves while getting amazing photos! A very special and tailored champagne breakfast is included and will be delivered to your suite.
CEREMONIES
We love hosting weddings or blessings onsite, whether it’s in our wonderful dramatic Mill Ceremony room or in our south facing orchard on the riverside front lawn, allowing your guests to spend the entire day in our idyllic surroundings. This beautiful epic venue is full of character, warmth and old world charm. Our experienced wedding coordinators and hospitality team take great pride in offering you an imaginative personal service and adore being with you every step of the way.
WEDDINGS
Our experienced wedding coordinators and hospitality team take great pride in offering you imaginative, personal service. We offer alternative weddings in our Georgian Manor House wedding venue with a choice of indoor and outdoor venues for your civil ceremony. You can get married in our dramatic Mill ceremony room, in the Orchard or on the riverside garden. We will help turn your wedding dreams into reality in Irelands truly magical, exclusive wedding venue on the banks of the River Boyne, Co. Meath.
ACCOMMODATION
The Georgian Manor House is located beside the Old Mill, Orchard and Gardens.
It is here, standing by the River Boyne, that you can feel our historic past and enjoy nature at its peaceful best. The Millhouse interiors are glamorous with a quirky twist. We have fifteen bedrooms to accommodate up to 46 guests in the house.
GLAMPING
We can host up to 57 people in our quirky glamp site. All glamping units are uniquely styled with luxurious interiors, boasting feather duvets and pillows with rich upholstery, comfortable beds and great showers. Some units have their own private hot tubs. With so many quirky units to choose from, you're sure to have a unique and adventurous stay. There's also a wonderful riverside area for camping with hot showers, and large barbecue and kitchen area. This little glamping area of seventeen units is perfect for your own private party. Ideal for hen parties, stags & birthdays parties.
WEDDING GUESTS
All bedrooms in the manor house and glamping units onsite are held for the wedding guests, and can be reserved directly through the wedding couple. Please note, cold plunge pool and sauna will not be available for wedding guests.

It had exactly the relaxed, fun atmosphere we wanted, and looking back, we genuinely couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. From the beginning right through all the planning to our day itself, the whole team from behind-the-scenes wedding to the team present on the day they were all absolutely brilliant, responsive and so accommodating. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, even with the endless emails and questions.The Millhouse was honestly the perfect venue for us. It had exactly the relaxed, fun atmosphere we wanted, and looking back, we genuinely couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. The grounds are gorgeous, but the real selling point is the staff. They are so chill, so sound, so flexible and accommodating. We were met by Valerie who brought us on a tour of the venue and talked us through how the day would run she was so calm and knowledgeable we were instantly sold! Valerie and the whole team were always there to answer questions big or small! The Millhouse removed any stress and made the run up so enjoyable the way it should be! The food was incredible, with the lamb, chicken and chorizo, and paella being highlights of the menu. All our guests raved about it! Can we have a ceremony onsite?
Yes, The Millhouse is fully approved for Health Service Executive (HSE) civil ceremonies; however, each couple must apply individually to their Civil Registration Office in their preferred county. Once you have applied, you will be given a declaration form which you must forward to us for completion. We will ensure that our venue meets the standards set out by the Health Service Executive, Civil Registration Office. You have the option of using the Old Mill for an indoor ceremony or The Orchard, Front Lawn or River Terrace for an outdoor ceremony. A final decision on an outdoor ceremony will be made together on the morning of your wedding, the Old Mill will be available in case of poor weather. We provide a complimentary pink carpet, tea lights, candles & shepherds hook lanterns for your wedding.
What type of ceremony may I have onsite?
This is entirely up to you but there are many types to choose from - Humanist, Spiritualist or Civil ceremonies or a simple blessing from family/friends can be conducted onsite
What is the maximum number of people we can have at our indoor civil ceremonies?
The Old Mill can hold a max of 200 guests. We can seat 180 so at maximum capacity, there will be up to 20 standing.
How many rooms are in the house?
The Millhouse has 15 bedrooms available. We have 5 superior, 7 classic doubles, 1 family suite, 1 twin and 1 single room. The bridal suite is complimentary forthe night of your wedding. The Manor House can sleep 46 guests.
Are there other accommodation options available onsite?
Yes, there are a few options:
The Coach House – this graceful split level Coach House can sleep 2 people, there is a double bed upstairs. The Coach House as accommodation is subject to availability as it is prioritised as a dressing room for wedding couples. Check in from 5pm.
Glamping - A mix of cosy cabins, safari tents and glamping units are available from May to September to accommodate a further 57 guests onsite. Note that only 2 of our units are ensuite, with all others using shared facilities.
Non powered camping pitches are also available for guests with own tents, or motorhomes. There are no service connections.
What time can guests arrive on the wedding day?
For weddings with an onsite 3pm ceremony, guests are welcome at our residents bar from 1.30pm. Accommodation check in is open from 3:30pm for all other guests. We will prioritise a maximum of two rooms to be ready for 1pm for your wedding party. Check out time is by 11:30am on the day of departure
When does the bar close?
The bar in The Pavilion is open until 2.00am. Then the bar in The River Rooms will reopen as your resident’s bar. All residents in the house and glamping may use this bar. This bar is open at the night manager’s discretion and may remain open until 4.00am if required.
May I bring in my own wine?
A corkage fee charged to cover the following:

Disposal of the bottles
Wine pouring
Washing & polishing of glasses
One bottle per six guests. The corkage fee on wine is charged at €24 per 75cl bottle, with a maximum allowance of half a bottle of wine per person to be brought in. Corkage on sparkling wine, champagne and Prosecco is €30 per bottle.
How many people can be seated in the Pavilion?
The Pavilion can accommodate a maximum of 180 guests.
Where and when do speeches take place?
In order to facilitate your meal service, all speeches will begin between 5.00pm and 5:15 pm, after food orders have been taken. Please be aware we only allow a maximum of 45 mins for speeches, in order to preserve the enjoyment of your meal. Any remaining speeches at this time will need to take place at the end of the meal (a fee of €200 applies if speeches need to be any longer or if service is delayed).
