We would have zero doubt in recommending Markree Castle to anyone as a venue for their wedding! Genuinely, down to every last detail, we all had an incredible time and we could not recommend hosting an event at Markree Castle more. The team are so professional and even though it is a castle, it feels like home. The food was delicious, all of our guests have been raving about it! Trust your instincts and plan a day that feels true to you as a couple. The most memorable weddings are those that reflect your personalities and love story. At Markree Castle, we like to give the happy couple a quiet moment together in the Observatory with their own private mini-bar – a chance to pause, soak it all in, and enjoy a little time just for two before the celebrations continue.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
One of my favourite personal touches was when a couple included handwritten letters to each of their guests, thanking them for being part of their journey. The letters were placed at each place setting, and guests were so touched by the thoughtful gesture. It added such a personal and heartfelt element to the day, making everyone feel even more connected to the celebration. Small details like this really make a wedding unforgettable.

If I had to pick, I’d say smoked bacon butty baguettes – there’s nothing quite like that crispy, savoury goodness to end the night on a high note! A close second, though, would be our Tayto sandwich kits – That’s always a crowd-pleaser. Either way, you can't go wrong!

Markree Castle’s most unique feature is its combination of rich history and enchanting beauty. If I had to pick, inside the castle, the staircase as you enter is such a unique and stunning feature – it truly sets the tone for the grandeur of Markree Castle. Equally special is our on-site chapel, offering a beautiful and intimate space for ceremonies inside the castle. Outside, our woodland ceremony location is a hidden gem, surrounded by nature, while the picturesque boathouse adds a touch of charm and tranquility, making it perfect for unforgettable moments and photos.
