Describe the best wedding that happened at The Glenside?
During the past 7 years as owners of The Glenside we have hosted many many weddings each one unique in their own way. We couldn't possibly choose one wedding as the best one. We build a relationship with every couple we meet and because we are involved in all of the wedding planning we become great friends by the time the day comes. We love being a part of such a special occasion and feel so happy when we see it all come together on the day.
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Our number 1 tip is to Set a Budget and Stick to it!
Working off a master spreadsheet will make life so much easier. Keep a spreadsheet with a budget, deposits and remaining balances, RSVPs, dietary requirements, to do lists – you name it! It really helps to keep track of everything all in one place.
Don’t be afraid to delegate – it’s very easy to become fixated on doing everything yourself, but the more jobs you can take off of your plate the better (and the more relaxed you’ll be in the lead up)
Set a budget and stick to it – it’s very easy to get carried away when you’re planning a wedding. By setting a detailed budget, with a breakdown of what you intend to spend on each item, you can decide together what your priorities are from the outset.
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
My absolute favourite personal touch that I've seen so far was when one of our brides had handwritten notes to all of her guests as her wedding favours. She had put so much thought into each note that was written from the heart and each note was placed into the guest napkins to read at dinner time. Obviously this must have been very time consuming. She told me that she wrote a couple each week on the lead up to her wedding. I could see from the reaction from her guests that it was so well received and worth the time. So much better than wasting money on a candle or keyring that will be left behind on a table at the end of the night!

What part of your business are you most proud of?
We are so proud of how far we have come in 7 years despite having a worldwide pandemic in the middle! This year, we have finished our refurbishments and are so proud of the amount of work we have done. We finally have the hotel we dreamed of. We have transformed the old hotel we purchased into a modern, boutique style, countryside hotel and we think it makes for the most magical and perfect wedding venue for any couple.
