We had our wedding at Macreddin Village in October 2017. (Our day was sandwiched between ex-Hurricane Ophelia and Storm Brian). 11 months later family and friends are still talking about what a fantastic day it was. We wanted great food, excellent service and an amazing venue for our wedding. We got those wishes and lots more besides. From our first visit to BrookLodge & Macreddin Village for lunch we were amazed by the quality of the food, the genuine hospitality of the staff, and the uniqueness of the facilities. When we subsequently attended a wedding showcase there, we were blown away by the simplicity and quality of everything we saw – the venue sold itself without any pomp or nonsense. In addition, the staff were outstanding and made time to show us around the entire Village.
Once we booked our date, the wedding planning team made all the organisation so easy. Their ideas, coolness, professionalism and attention to detail made our day run flawlessly and so much fun. The wedding team did so many small thoughtful things which we had never discussed, such as moving some of our decorations from Macreddin Chapel to Brook Hall between the ceremony and the meal, which added greatly to the day and our enjoyment.
On the day the food was outstanding – numerous guests commented that it was the best meal they had ever had. The staff throughout all parts of the Village were unbelievably professional while also friendly and made us feel so incredibly special during our stay, and especially so on our wedding day. The maître d', Pavel, was exceptionally professional and ran the dinner service as if he was conducting an orchestra – outstanding. The night before our wedding, we had a fantastic meal in The Strawberry Tree Restaurant which could be the subject of an entire review of its own. The evening after we had the pleasure of experiencing Mommas Table in La Taverna Armento with a small group of family which proved an amazing hit with everyone – possibly the best Italian food we have ever had. We nearly forgot to mention the lovely lunches and quiet drinks in Acton’s Country Pub and in The Waterside Lounge - great treats and great staff also. So many small things made a big difference, setting Macreddin Village well ahead of its competitors. We could not fault a thing about our wedding at Macreddin Village; our expectations were exceeded, and we cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone looking for a wedding destination.
