The Domaine de Carthage is an ancient Roman camp, surrounded by its moats where Roman coins and a sword were found, exhibited at the Baptistery of St. John in Poitiers. Several hypotheses on the history of the name "Carthage" have been imagined but we do not really know its origin.
The estate became a farm that my grandparents renovated in 1947, 70 years ago. My father grew up in Carthage and took over the farm with my mother in 1966 as a sharecropper then as a tenant in 1976 where they transformed the barn into a stable in bay to accommodate 75 Charolais cows.
The years have passed, my parents worked tirelessly and bought the estate in 1994. Today, they are retired.
Stéphane, Mehdi and I are now giving new life to Carthage.
