Description
The Château d'Hénonville is a historical gem located in the Oise region, listed as a French historical monument, and embodies centuries of history through its architecture and owners.
Notably, the current château dates back to 1554, after the original version, built in the 13th century, was destroyed during the Jacquerie revolt.
The château stands out with its three white stone buildings, featuring a central pediment adorned with a comital crown and a coat of arms, that of the Roslin d'Ivry family, sculpted by Cantrel in 1811. At the back, a sundial from 1580, decorated with the signs of the zodiac, testifies to the refinement of the period.
Owned by many prestigious families over the centuries, the château has hosted illustrious guests, including King Alfonso XIII of Spain, an avid hunter.
The château's modern history is marked by events during World War II when it was occupied by both the Germans and the Americans, before becoming a place of refuge for the associations of children of deported Jewish people in 1946.
Today, under the management of the municipality of Hénonville, the château continues to bear the marks of its past, serving as a witness to a rich history.
