This exclusive venue in Anna Bay offers a unique opportunity to get married with the largest sand dune in the Southern Hemisphere as a backdrop. The ceremony alternatives include Port Stephens' local beaches, parks, and the native bushland of the Retreat property.
The Retreat Port Stephens can host ceremonies and reception in one place, streamlining your wedding organisation. In addition to ceremony and reception, The Retreat has accommodation facilities and an in-house catering service.
However, The Retreat also allows external caterers and has a comprehensive vendor list for various aspects of weddings, including hair and makeup, tent rental, entertainment, florists, photography and videography, celebrants, cakes, wedding planning, and more.
Indoor Weddings at the Retreat
The Retreat has a multipurpose event room, featuring:
- The capacity of 100 guests for a seated wedding reception
- Versatile table layout
- A neutral interior, great for adding a personal touch
At this event space, weddings take place year-round, seven days a week. If you decide to host a wedding off-season and outside the weekend, suppliers are more available, and it is easier to get a date.

When you book a Retreat for your wedding day, you’ll get exclusive use of the venue and total privacy. Moreover, the accommodation at the Retreat is self-contained and can host up to 70 people.

It was a fantastic venue, the accommodation was neat and clean, and the rural location was great for a wedding and for wedding photos (and particularly the dunes backdrop). The staff were extremely helpful - even to the point of giving my sister and I a lift back to Newcastle airport (thank you Nell). Would thoroughly recommend the venue for a special event. It was a fantastic venue, the accommodation was neat and clean, and the rural location was great for a wedding and for wedding photos (and particularly the dunes backdrop). The property is in a beautiful location among the trees and the sand dunes literally next door gave us a great backdrop for our photos. Having the ability to arrange all of our own catering and BYO booze saved us a lot of money. We loved having all of our guests stay on the property with us and it made for a great weekend getaway for all. The staff were so helpful and were always there to help if neededWe had our wedding here and it was AMAZING! We all had an absolutely fantastic time and were very impressed by the facilities and the staff. While at the wedding, I lost my phone and the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. When I got home 4 days later, I managed to track the phone back to the venue and the staff went searching for it and found it. They were very accommodating and mailed it back to me.
