We offer both bespoke weddings and carefully designed wedding packages to suit a range of styles. Couples can tailor their day by selecting menu options and hire arrangements that reflect their vision, or choose from one of our packages for a seamless experience. Whether you are planning an intimate celebration, a non-exclusive wedding, or full exclusive use of the venue, our team will work closely with you to create truly special memories.
Civil Ceremonies & Partnerships
Poets House is fully licensed to host civil ceremonies and partnership celebrations. Our dedicated Wedding Coordinator will guide and support you from your very first enquiry through to the moment you say your vows. With expert knowledge and attention to detail, we ensure every step of your journey is stress-free. We also work with trusted suppliers to help bring your vision to life.
Wedding Reception
Enjoy drinks and canapés with your guests in our charming courtyard garden — the perfect setting for photographs and relaxed celebrations. On cooler or rainy days, our stylish and elegant lounge provides a comfortable and inviting alternative.
Wedding Breakfast
Our Head Chef and talented kitchen team have created delicious menus for your wedding breakfast. Using the finest, locally sourced ingredients, each dish is carefully prepared to make your celebration truly memorable. An excellent selection of wines and toast drinks is also available to complement your meal.
Evening Party
After your wedding breakfast, the celebrations continue with your evening party. Picture your first dance, cutting the cake, and spending the night on the dance floor to the sounds of a DJ or live band. With evening bites, and a laid-back atmosphere, the night is yours to savour.
Accommodation
Poets House offers 21 luxurious bedrooms for you and your guests, each thoughtfully designed for comfort and style. All of our bedrooms feature the stunning William Holland Copper bath, perfect for relaxation after your celebrations. Enjoy breakfast the following morning in our Dining Room, or why not have breakfast in bed, with stunning views of the Cathedral from our Bridal Suite.
For exclusive-use weddings, the entire hotel is yours; including sole use of our courtyard garden, all public rooms and 21 boutique bedrooms.

Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more, we enjoyed every minute of it, and the Poets House team played a huge part in this - nothing was too much trouble for them, right down to the Portuguese barman who was happily recommending places to visit in Lisbon on our honeymoon. Our family in Ely were all planning future meals and drinks at the hotel as they were so impressed with the food and service. We can’t thank them enough, as they really helped make our day one we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.We are so grateful to Sara and the Poets House team for helping to make our day so fantastic! What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
One of our favourites is when couples weave their story into the day in small, meaningful ways. One couple even had their beloved dogs featured on the wedding cake! :)

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
It’s hard to choose just one photo spot, but our favourites have to be the courtyard garden and our beautiful staircases. The courtyard captures natural light perfectly and provides stunning backdrops for portraits, and group shots. Inside, the staircases provide a timeless setting full of character and charm.
