From start to finish the staff were friendly and helpful, even had our own wedding planner. The day was perfect, we got married in a room with a big open cosy fire place and cosy sofas. Staff were to friendly and to hand before and throughout the ceremony. We stayed in a Shepards hut for 2 nights. It was so peaceful and in an amazingly beautiful setting watching over fields and sheeps. The whole place is just stunning, rustic and beautiful with attention to detail throughout. Nothing ever felt too much trouble, and we felt completely supported throughout the planning process and on the day itself. The regular calls with Debbie helped to keep us calm and excited and she often enabled us to think about things that we’d overlooked or forgotten. The Barn itself is stunning and provided the perfect backdrop for a rustic, autumn wedding. It looked beautiful ‘as is’ and was made perfect once we’d adorned it with our decorations. We also stayed at Godwick Hall with our friends and family during our wedding, which was such a special part of the experience. The rooms were lovely, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. Having everyone together in one place made the whole weekend feel even more magical. We couldn’t recommend Godwick Great Barn highly enough, it was the perfect place to get married and the only downside is that we can’t do it all over again. I cannot recommend Godwick enough! She also helped us to connect with a professional and friendly group of suppliers who understood what we were looking for and were able to bring their creativity and expertise to deliver it for us. The venue itself is stunning and also very versatile. We loved the rustic feel of the barn which brings a beautiful blank canvas upon which to create something special and unique. For us it meant ‘less is more’ and, with some beautiful trees, great lighting, some simple but stylish drapes, props and flowers, and lovely table settings on the rustic tables, we were able to create a fabulous, natural and open space for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and later, dancing. We also hired a marquee as a ‘chill-out zone’ for guests who wanted to sit, chat and catch up with old friends away from the music of the evening disco. Nothing was too much bother for Debbie-Lee and the Godwick team. We stayed at Godwick Hall and had close friends and family staying with us there and in the stables and shepherds huts for the whole weekend. The accommodation is wonderful. Everyone loved it and it extended our celebrations beautifully, which meant that we were able to spend quality time relaxing with our nearest and dearest before and after our special day. Describe the best wedding that happened at your venue?
Mine! No but seriously we have had loads of amazing weddings at Godwick, but how could I not say my own. We really did have an amazing autumn wedding in October 2015. We wanted to have an autumnal themed wedding, with a beautiful inside ceremony. We had a relaxed atmosphere for the drinks reception and then the wedding breakfast with a big emphasis on food and drink. I had some large rustic trestle tables made and these provided a fabulous communal banquet with large sharing platters and copious amounts of wine. We had great live music throughout the day, a wonderful ceremony, a big banquet dinner and then loads of dancing to a fabulous band, all set in my own wedding venue with all my family friends creating fabulous memories that last till this day, what more could you want?
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
I'm a big believer in working out what your theme is and how you want your day to feel, what will the vibe be like? For us, we spent a long time figuring out our theme, which was based around a strong autumnal colour pallette, and a rustic, country feel with lots of tweeds and textures. We combined these with our desire to create a relaxed and informal event and ensured that our theme ran through the whole event from the stationary we had designed to the clothes we wore, to the styling of the venue and even the menu itself. I think this really helps an event hang together and the guests get a real sense of what your wedding is about. Of course, you need to choose a great venue, and one like Godwick that is flexible and customisable!!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
We have had some wonderful, creative and stunning wedding arches for outside ceremonies, I love these.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
Our historic ruins provide an amazing back drop to any wedding photography, but being set in 85 acres of ancient parkland the choices are endless!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Yes we have had a few well known faces as guests, including Ireland rugby captain Rory Best. BBC London weather girl and presenter Wendy Hurrell also got married at Godwick and we have had several social media stars getting hitched with us but as always we would never reveal their names, unless we have their permission of course!
What’s your favourite canapé?
I can't think of a canape I don't like, but it's hard to pass by any type of roasted grape and goats cheese crostini... It is really surprising how good these are.
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
Toasted marshmallows on a roaring Godwick firepit and putting them between chocolate digestives to create unforgettable smores!
What is your venue's most unique feature?
We have a few unique features, but I guess our own vintage tractor, Fergie. Our 1958 Ferguson tractor acts as bridal transport from Godwick Hall to the Great Barn, later taking the couple to the ruins for photos. The barn itself is one of a kind, with its ornately decorated western facade, and original beams and features.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
My team are an amazingly hard working bunch who are as passionate about Godwick as I am!
