Hidden away amidst secret pathways and big open grass areas, our farm offers a magical backdrop for couples wanting a completely unique celebration. Exchange your vows by the water under our picturesque pond archway, surrounded by birds singing joyfully. After the ceremony, host an unforgettable reception in our marquee, which seats up to 150 guests for dining and dancing. As the night falls, the festival energy truly begins, gather your loved ones around a roaring fire-pit with rustic log seating to stargaze and toast marshmallows. Guests can immerse themselves in the full festival experience by staying overnight, either bringing their own tents or hiring one of our bell tents. Whilst the newly weds retreat to a luxurious private yurt, serving as the ultimate bridal suite. With Fat hen farm, we believe your wedding should be as unique as your love story, with various flexible packages available and freedom to bring in food vans and bars, with no corkage charge, we provide the ultimate blank canvas with scope to create your perfect day. Whether you envision a laid back food truck festival with straw bale seating, a vibrant weekend camp-out or a romantic woodland fairy-tale, the choice is entirely yours.

It all went so smoothly and you and your colleagues were so lovely to work with. We had a wonderful day and really appreciated your calm energy throughout and thoughtfulness on the day, bringing us champagne and wedding cake etc! The venue itself is a magical area, where guests and their children felt free to explore. We held our ceremony in a glade of woods, and partied into the night. The secret pathways and attention to detail make it unforgettable. My daughter, the bride was in her element, a beautiful fairy surrounded by decor of moss and mushroom. The guests enjoyed it so much, visiting the animals, the goats and turkeys were very entertaining, and the play area with diggers and trucks for children too. A really special place!What a magical venue for a celebration! The secret pathways and attention to detail make it unforgettable. My fiance (now wife) and I had been up and down Cambridge trying to find a venue that not only fitted our budget but was able to give us the freedom to create the wedding that we dreamed and then we found Fat hen farm....well from the moment we arrived Felicity and Sam were full of smiles. They recommended suppliers which helped massively and were there every step of the way to help! For those with a dream of an outdoor wedding you could not do better than here. Perfection in every way! All our guests were delighted with the event and they over delivered on every aspect. We had a wonderful BBQ provided by the farm and their professional and relaxed manner made our guests feel comfortable and well looked after. How many guests can you accommodate?
Our marquee seats 150 guests for a formal seated wedding breakfast, a more informal style event we can host 250. We have parking on site, and can hire an additional car parking field if needed.
Do you host multiple weddings a weekend?
Never. We are a small scale venue, strictly against the 'wedding conveyor belt' approach. The farm is exclusively yours for the weekend, hire is from Friday 10am to Sunday at 12.
Can we choose our own catering and suppliers?
Absolutely, we offer lots of scope to create your own unique day, meaning you have the freedom to bring in your favourite food trucks, decorations and supplies. We offer a BBQ service, using locally sourced meat and vegetables from our veggie garden! You are welcome to bring in a bar, or you can provide your own alcohol and we can provide bar staff for you.
Are we allowed real fires?
Yes, we have a dedicated fire pit zone, with rustic log seating, perfect as the party slows down for star gazing and chatting about the day!
Can we legally marry at the farm?
We are not a licensed venue for legal ceremonies, but you can have a beautiful personal blessing or ceremony under the arch by the pond. you can bring your own celebrant or we can recommend one!
What is the music curfew?
To respect our local wildlife and community we ask that amplified music is turned off at 11pm.
Do you have guidelines for decorations?
Yes, we are a leave no trace venue. All decorations must be earth conscious, meaning only real flower confetti and biodegradable glitter. Decorations are to be taken away with you, unless agreed otherwise.
Can guests stay overnight?
Yes! Guests can bring their own tents, or hire one of our cosy glamping bell tents. The Newly weds can use our luxurious private bridal yurt.
Is the farm wheel chair accessible?
Because we are an outdoor community farm, with grass areas and rustic secret pathways, the terrain can be uneven. We want everyone to be able to celebrate and enjoy our farm so get in touch with us about your guests specific needs so we can plan smooth routes. The marquee and main ceremony area are accessible, and parking close to areas can be arranged.
What is your wedding season?
We host weddings from June to September for the summer season.
