This unique barn wedding venue offers two elegant preparation spaces designed to make your wedding morning unforgettable. In the heart of the venue, the Salon and Boudoir is a light-filled suite with dedicated hair and make-up stations, a chic upstairs dressing room for that perfect reveal, and a cosy lounge downstairs to toast the day ahead with fizz and friends. Across the moat, The Dudeoir provides a fabulous and stylish retreat where partners and their party can relax, get ready in style, and share those special pre-ceremony moments together.
Couples are invited to tie the knot in the breathtaking 300-year-old Rickety Barn, a lovingly restored traditional timber barn with solid oak beams and wrought iron chandeliers. In the warmer months, couples can also choose to marry beneath The Thatched Bower, a uniquely beautiful oak-framed structure looing out on the young, evolving woodland.
After the ceremony, celebrate with drinks in the elegant Moat Barn, spilling out onto the landscaped gardens to mingle with guests, and perhaps spot the resident peacocks. Your wedding breakfast takes place in the light and airy Bridge Barn, overlooking the moat. Its neutral tones provide a sophisticated backdrop that’s ready to be styled your way.
At Bassmead Manor Barns, food and drink are at the heart of the celebration. The talented in-house team craft dishes that delight, from elegant fine dining to hearty sharing boards and relaxed, family-style feasts. Pair your menu with fine wines, celebratory fizz or handcrafted cocktails that perfectly capture your personality and style.
As the evening unfolds, the Bridge Barn, with its chic, modern vibe, transforms into your dancefloor whilst guests can step outside to enjoy the ambience of the outdoor kitchen serving wood-fired pizzas or vibrant street food. It’s relaxed and effortless, the perfect way to continue the celebrations into the night.
When the dancing’s done, retreat to Dove Cottage, your romantic honeymoon hideaway for the night. Your nearest and dearest can stay across the moat in Appletree Cottage, home to seven beautifully appointed guest bedrooms. From the moment we viewed the venue and were show around we could tell it was the venue for us. The staff are absolutely incredible and nothing was too much. Our events manager Ally was incredible and you could tell that she loved her job! From the beginning she was attentive, organised and cared about the little details. We were extremely lucky to have 32 degrees on our wedding day and the venue was blooming. The care and attention to detail meant that our photos are absolutely incredible. We had heard that the food at Bassmead was amazing and can confirm on the day that it was incredible. Possibly the best steak I have ever eaten! Our guests said how breathtaking the drive up to the venue was and how professional all the staff were, from those behind the bar to those serving our dinner. We would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone. Thank you so much for going above and beyond. Walking down the aisle in the Rickety Barn felt so intimate and magical, and yet it still comfortably held all of our family and friends. Later, moving seamlessly into the Moat Barn for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations felt effortless; the whole flow of the day was faultless. The grounds are immaculate and gave us the most beautiful backdrop for photos. Guests couldn’t stop complimenting how picture-perfect everything was – from the gardens to the moat itself. It truly feels like a hidden gem, a world away from everything else, which made it feel all the more personal and ours for the day. What really made the difference though, was the team at Bassmead. Jade, our coordinator, deserves a special mention. She was calm, organised, and had this amazing ability to make us feel completely at ease, even when nerves started creeping in. The whole team worked tirelessly behind the scenes so that everything ran smoothly, and we genuinely didn’t have to worry about a thing. That meant we could just soak up the day and be present, which is something priceless. The food was exceptional – we’ve lost count of the number of guests who told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever had. Every course was spot on, beautifully presented and delicious. The evening food was just as good, and no one went hungry. It’s clear that Bassmead doesn’t just treat food as part of the day, but as a highlight in itself. We also stayed in Dove Cottage, which was such a lovely touch – it gave us a chance to reflect on the day together in comfort without having to worry about travelling anywhere afterwards. We cannot speak highly enough of Bassmead. The venue is stunning, rustic, warm, cosy, and so pretty with all the fairy lights. It is the perfect place to get married and have your reception all in one place. The Rickety Barn is beautiful and as soon as we saw it on a show-round we knew that was the place we wanted to get married. But Bassmead would not be the same without the staff - Annette, our co-ordinator, we cannot ever thank you enough. You have been an absolute pleasure to have planned our wedding with, from giving us advice, helping us with suppliers, keeping us organised and on track and helping us think of things we would never have thought of ourselves. On the day you were the one to ensure everything ran smoothly, from the minute me, my mum and bridesmaids arrived to get ready until the end of the night. One of our favourite weddings was Jenny, our Senior Events Manager, right at the start of us opening up again in May 2021. We were able to make her day perfect for her and also enjoy being guests and self appointed bridesmaids!
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't sweat the small things. Everything you are worrying about being perfect you won't think about on the day because you will be too busy having the best time ever!
What’s your favourite personal touch you’ve seen at a wedding?
Champagne bottles as table names. Each Champagne bottle was from a special life event for the couple and there was a story to go with them on each table.

Where’s the best photo spot at your venue?
On the bridge - we think it's super romantic and truly one of a kind over our moat!
Have you had any celebrity guest or wedding at your venue?
Mishal Husain the BBC news reader and David Davis the conservative MP both held their wedding days with us.
What’s your favourite canapé?
We absolutely love the Goat’s cheese and shallot tart, but there are so many great ones to choose from!
What’s your favourite midnight treat?
A good night's sleep for couples and guests is the perfect midnight treat at Bassmead Manor Barns.
What is your venue's most unique feature?
The moat with the bridge entrance, especially in the evening when the fairy lights are switched on.
