What is your most memorable wedding?
Our own! We got married this August 2019 in our busiest ever wedding season. We had a DIY wedding - It was such a perfect day. An outside ceremony, personal vows, so many emotions and all our closest friends and family having the best day ever. We have now experienced weddings not just as photographers but as a bride and groom too. This gives us such a special insight into what all our couples go through while planning a wedding. It is such an exciting but very hectic time! Having our own perfect wedding day has made us love weddings and our job as wedding photographers even more!
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Natural, relaxed, artistic, original, unobtrusive
What about your business are you most proud of?
We won the TWIA Wedding Photographer of the year 2020!
What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Book the suppliers whose work you love the most - this is the most important thing. So book the venue you fall in love with, the photographer whose photographs you love the most and so on. It seems like an obvious tip - but it's easy to get lost in sales techniques and package details.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
A wedding which we photographed recently - straight after the ceremony the couple went to a tattoo shop and got tattoos to celebrate their marriage, what's even more incredible is that the groom is a tattoo artist. It was such a fun and unique moment to get to photograph a groom tattooing his bride! Every wedding is so personal to each and every couple though and we love how all the personal touches that we see means no two weddings are ever the same.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
We let our couples get on with enjoying their day, while we capture all the emotion and fun of their wedding as unobtrusively as possible. Apart from any family / formal group shots that our couples request, our style is completely documentary - we let moments happen, we don't create them.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
There really isn't one - we feel a couple should enjoy their day and forget about their wedding photographer. Pre-planning photography just puts pressure on the couple and detracts from them having an amazing day as they have to worry about where they're going to be taken to next by their photographer. When our couples receive their photographs they are able to relive their day as it really happened - they also notice so many moments they didn't know where happening at the time.
What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?
If we were asked to take it... it wouldn't be original! All our work is our own - we don't pre-plan things or copy other's work. We always say just enjoy your day and we'll do the rest!
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
The weather shouldn't affect your wedding day - you can't control it. Whatever the weather, your wedding day will be amazing!
Describe how you got into photography.
We have been best friends since meeting at university, where we studied Fine Art photography. Photography has always been a passion of ours and we are privileged to make a living out of something we love doing.
