What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Try not to stress over the small stuff and enjoy the process, it will be over before you know it.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
It's always the home made wedding favours, the guests know the effort that has gone in to these and appreciate it just that little more.
Describe your typical process with a couple.
It all starts with an enquire, I like to provide as much information as possible because your time is precious and you don't want to have to be going back and forward trying to find what you want. After our initial chat a couple decides to book with me and secured the booking you will receive a welcome pack along with your contract, I like to stay in contact checking in from time to time to see how your plans are coming along and give you piece of mind that I am still here for you, a month out we will have another conversation where I will get all of the details of the day from bride and groom prep locations to all of the key times during the day so everything is as prepared as possible. I advise my couples that I am available at any point should they need me. A few days before the wedding I take a trip to the venue so there are no surprises on the day and I have back up locations should things like the weather not go in our favour.
What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?
Anything during golden hour. The light during this time of day is at its best and it gives the couple one of the only moments during the day when they can get some needed alone time before its back to the party.
What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?
Embrace it!! some of the best shots I have captured have been in harsh weather from rain to random blizzards, embrace the day it will mean so much more when looking back on your images, I do also keep a stock of wedding black and white umbrellas for those who really want to stay dry.
Describe how you got into photography.
My journey started in landscape photography, Photographing the Liverpool docks and all over the Lake District this is where I got to grips with what makes a good image great.
I then made the change into events photography shooting sports personality dinners for Manifest events having the privilege of photograph some of the biggest names in British boxing, but my true joy is found in photographing people and memories, I love shooting stunning portraits and magical weddings there is something about capturing real emotion in an image that I find truly fulfilling.
People close to me started to get married and didn’t want to hire an everyday wedding photographer, they just liked my style and wanted to be at ease on the day and have someone make it look fantastic.
The photography I shoot is a candid photo journalism style, I love this style of natural non posed photography as I feel it reflects real people in real situations in the most natural way possible and results in emotion packed images, not everyone feels comfortable in-front of a camera and my style allows people to just be themselves and enjoy a relaxed no stress session, I find this way I get better images that people love without taking anyone out of there comfort zone.
