Dominic Parkes Photography Full Description
I believe my journalistic background gives me an edge when photographing weddings. I am very aware that my images will be viewed many times and have to reflect the day, and not be remembered for a photographer that kept ordering them around! I ensure that the feel of the day, formal and more relaxed moments, are all captured in a calm and professional way. Being a full-time professional photographer I am less formulaic than some wedding photographers and can attend for an hour, or the whole day. I can supply a DVD of high resolution images, a Photo book of the day or a bound leather album of colour (or black & white) prints.

FAQs
Find out a bit more from our FAQs

What is your most memorable wedding?

A pagan blessing at Stonehenge a few years ago.

Describe your style in 5 adjectives.

Unflappable. Polite. Calm. Focused. Witty.

What about your business are you most proud of?

I am not just a wedding photographer so I enjoy the opportunity to attend a happy event and supply images that reflect this.

What is your No. 1 wedding planning tip for couples?

Make sure you can get on with the photographer. Having minimal prior communication and then a double-sided A4 list of 'must have' shots on the day is not ideal. It is preferable to have built up a rapport before so I have an idea how to obtain the images that you really want.

What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?

A parachutist landing and handing over a military sword for the cutting of the cake (Heath and Safety meant the sword was hidden in his landing zone) but it was impressive.

Describe your typical process with a couple.

Communication is key so we have telephone calls and at least one face to face meet prior to the day.

What is the No. 1 photo that you think every couple should take?

No definitive shot but it is always nice to obtain a relaxed shot of the couple away from the crowd.

What is the most original photo you’ve been asked to take at a wedding?

Not terribly original but the bride wearing wellie boots with her flowing white dress under an umbrella with her groom. It was a wet day and we could only laugh.

What do you recommend for a rainy day wedding?

An umbrella and a sense of humour. Agree a plan B.

Describe how you got into photography.

An interest at school which was nurtured by a teacher who saw a genuine spark. Decided against Uni and set up in business after Sixth Form.
