Is the estate exclusively ours for the day?
Yes, absolutely.
Unlike hotels or public venues, "The Quinta" is a private sanctuary. When you book your celebration with Elope in Portugal, the gates are closed to the world. You will have sole access to the gardens, the 16th-century Aqueduct, and the grounds, ensuring total privacy and silence for your vows.
Can I hire my own Wedding Planner?
We work on a collaborative basis.
To guarantee the aesthetic integrity and logistical safety of this historic property, Elope in Portugal exclusively manages the core planning, styling, and floral design. However, you have the freedom to select your own photographer, videographer, and hair & makeup artist (subject to our prior approval), as we understand these are deeply personal choices.
Is there accommodation on-site?
The Quinta is a venue for celebration, not for accommodation.
To preserve the privacy of this ancestral home, we do not offer overnight stays. However, our privileged location in Colares places you just minutes away from some of Portugal’s most exquisite boutique hotels and palaces. We are happy to share our curated list of recommendations nearby.
What happens if it rains?
We are fully prepared. Nature is part of Sintra's charm, but we never leave your day to chance. Since the Main House interiors are reserved, we have elegant contingency plans. We deploy sophisticated stretch tents that keep you dry while allowing you to remain immersed in the beauty of the gardens and the aqueduct views.
What is the guest capacity?
We specialise in intimacy. The estate is versatile: perfect for "Botanical Embrace" elopements (just the couple), intimate "Secret Sanctuary" weddings (12-50 guests), or "Grand Garden Celebrations" for up to 150 guests. We curate the event flow to match your guest count perfectly.
Can we use the Chapel?
Yes, with prior consultation. The estate features a consecrated 18th-century Chapel, ideal for deeply intimate religious blessings (capacity: approx. 16 guests). To preserve its sanctity and history, usage is exclusive and granted strictly upon approval as part of your bespoke programme.
How does catering work?
We believe in culinary excellence. While we do not have an in-house kitchen, we partner with a selection of Portugal’s finest external catering teams. Whether you desire a vegan feast, a Mediterranean alfresco lunch, or a fusion menu, we coordinate everything.
Is the venue accessible for guests with reduced mobility?
Yes, within reason. While this is a historic property with some stairs and uneven terrain, the main garden areas and ceremony spots are accessible. Please inform us in advance of any specific needs so we can plan the most comfortable routes for your guests.
Are there noise restrictions?
Respecting the sanctuary. As we are located within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park and value the area's serenity, music is permitted but regulated. We allow live acoustic music or DJ sets in the designated areas, always maintaining reasonable sound levels to preserve the environment's harmony.
Can we bring our children or pets?
Yes. We are a family-welcoming space and also pet-friendly. The gardens are fantastic for children to explore, though we recommend a nanny service for peace of mind near the water features. Your four-legged friends are welcome to join the ceremony.
