For many weddings, the afternoon drinks reception is a time when the happy couple are busy with the photographer and the majority of guests are left with nothing more than a few canapés and some background music. It's important to keep the guests entertained during this period to ensure the atmosphere of the day doesn't stall. You can relax and take your time getting that perfect photo, knowing that your guests are in safe hands and won't be watching the clock!
Of course the other option is after dinner while the DJ/Band is setting up. Quite often around 6pm there is a dead hour, and it's essential to keep the energy going if you want a good party in the evening! I'll bridge the gap between the speeches and the first dance, which for most weddings is typically around 6pm-9pm.
However most couples book me as their host. I greet your guests, make announcements and introduce the bridal party to the wedding breakfast in a way that REALLY gets the party started. Plus I’ll entertain everyone with magic during the afternoon drinks reception and between courses of the wedding breakfast, and you’ll have full use of my PA system and microphones for the speeches while I’ll professionally introduce. There’s also a bespoke piece of magic for the top table which creates a perfect photo opportunity for your photo/videographer and is a real memory maker in itself!
